Finding all your beauty favourites

It’s been quite a while since we have stood in front of a beauty counter. As we are all shopping online more and definitely purchasing more from Amazon. I wanted to share my tips and shopping guides for finding the best beauty products on Amazon.

**Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn commission if you click through and make a purchase.

It can be rather overwhelming if you are looking for beauty products on Amazon. Especially if you aren’t sure exactly what you are looking for. Pages and pages of products can be presented to you. I find I get over-saturated by all the choices and often end up giving up on my search. As Amazon is such a huge worldwide marketplace, there is little you can’t find. So to help you find the best of Amazon beauty, I have created this post with some of my top recommendations and tips for finding quality and authentic products.

Check out my storefront for further product recommendations and ideas

So where to start?

Nails:
Nails Inc: Amazing glitter formula’s!
Bluesky Gel Polish: (You do need a UV light to cure these) Phenomenal shade range
Essie: A staple for any nail polish lover
Rubis: Good nail scissors are a must, I love these, so sharp

Improving your shopping experience

Amazon Prime

Prime is a luxury but if you are an avid shopper or a tv enthusiast you may see the benefits. I have been subscribed for a few years now and although I was initially not sold on priority shipping, it’s been a lifesaver. Need something in a pinch and it’s with you the next day, I don’t know how I lived without it.

The drawback is, the added cost. There are trials and students get a reduction in price, so keep an eye on it if you are tempted. Plus the benefits of the Amazon streaming service (if you are a Parks and Rec fan like me this will be worth it alone) and access to early lightning deals means it can save you in the long run.

Mainly you will also never have to pay extra for shipping (provided you have the prime logo featuring on the item) meaning you don’t have to hit that annoying certain spending amount to qualify for free shipping.

It’s not for everyone but if you buy a lot, it makes everything smoother, faster and more enjoyable.

Hair Care:
Redken: One of my favourite haircare brands and the All Soft range is my top pick
Tangle Teezer: I love this travel compact version, a must for knotty hair
Philip Kingsley: Mazimizer, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love this
Wet Brush: Amazing for brushing your hair after washing without breakage
Sachajuan: Salon hair at home!
Hair Shark: The best multi use tool for backcombing and parting

Amazon Smile

An easy way to give a little back is with Amazon Smile. Pick a charity from the list and 0.5% of your purchase will go towards your chosen charity every time you shop. A nice effortless way to give back.

Add-On

If you don’t have Prime you may see lower cost products, labelled as Add-On items. What this means is you do have to spend a certain amount before you can add these onto your order. It’s a great way to load up on extras without spending more on shipping then the product actually costs.

Movers and Shakers

If you’re after a deal, Movers and Shakers is a great way to see products that have become discounted or just released due to mass increase in orders. If nothing else I find this a great way to see what’s popular, what is something I may not have known about before, and ideally finding something I wanted for a better price.

Skincare:
Caudalie: One of my favourite brands, high quality and luxurious
Lumene: Brighten and glow with Vitamin C
Elemis: Spa like skin at home, this luxury brand is a must try

Amazon Assistant

Amazon Assistant is a super handy applet can be downloaded to your web browser and pops up anytime a product you are looking at can be found cheaper on Amazon. Its easy to install and gives you an overview of daily deals too.

Amazon Choice

Amazon Choice is Amazon’s algorithm offering the ‘best fit’ for what you were searching for. So if you are in a hurry and don’t want to scroll too much. This can be a great option that factors in other buyers recommendations and top selling items.

Subscribe and Save

Lastly, if you want to take the hassle out of remembering to repurchase staple products. Subscribe and Save offers renewals for key products. There is no long term commitment and as you run out the next one arrives.

I know there are many many more but these are what I have found the most enjoyable and helpful to my amazon shopping experience!

Makeup:
Milani: I adore their powder products and their blushes especially.
Kiko: is such a high quality brand, I love their Water eyeshadows
Maxfactor: A staple drugstore brand for me
Maybelline: The Extreme Chrome highlighters are out of this world
Lumene: The skin Tint is amazing for a low makeup day

Find those beauty products

There are a few ways you can go about finding beauty products on Amazon. Either through category searches and narrowing down your selections with customer reviews, price and primer filters to name a few. This can be a good option if you are open to suggestions, want to see what’s out there and find new products.

If you already know what you like, the search bar is going to be your best choice. I like to search for brand names to start off with, this gives me a good idea of what of the brand, if any is available, and if the prices across the board are inline with what i’m familiar with.

Only if the price is right

This is important, Amazon is a marketplace and as a result, sellers can price things unfairly or even offer products for questionably cheap prices. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is. Likewise if the price is unusually high, Amazon isn’t going to be your best bet. Price check if you are unsure and see if something is just discounted or if it’s potentially a knock off.

Read the reviews

If you are unsure, look at the customer reviews. Shoppers tend to be able to sniff out a rat, and this can save you disappointment in the long run. There is always going to be a margin of error, so take reviews with a pinch of salt. I always get a feel for something from the reviews before I buy it. Buying online means spending a bit more time making sure it’s right for you. I’ve never regretted it.

Scents:
Cowshed: Divine essential oil fragrance notes! I love their hand creams
This Works: I adore this brand, their pillow spray is ultimate relaxation
Rituals: You can’t go wrong with Rituals, scents that are universally popular

So now you’re ready to buy, but what to go for?

To stop this from being the longest blog post ever, I have just put a few suggestions into the two main categories of skincare and makeup. Do check out my storefront for even more ideas or the links within the captioned photos to get an even bigger idea of what you can find on Amazon beauty from my own stash.

Skincare

You can find a big range of skincare on Amazon from all different price points and skin needs. Below are a few of my favourites to shop for.

Amazing Value Staples:

Treat Yourself:

Tools:
Real Techniques: The best affordable brushes and sponges
Rose Quartz Roller: Enjoy a spa like experience at home
Reusable Cotton Pads: A great swap to make to reduce waste

Makeup

I mostly recommend Amazon makeup for drugstore and affordable brands finds. There are premium brands available but often the odd product instead of a full range.
