[Copenhagen, Denmark, June 24, 2024] Recently, Huawei, in collaboration with China Mobile, Hong Kong HKT, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Tsinghua University, South Africa Openserve, Saudi Arabia STC, Eastern Communication Software and other telecommunications operators and research institutions, has innovatively collaborated on the "Network Green Evolution, Enabling Sustainable Development of the Telecommunications Industry" catalyst project, which won the Best Catalyst Award in the 2024 TM Forum (Global Telecommunications Management Forum) Sustainable Development Challenge Track. The project aims to create a green network evolution and digital integration platform through digitalization and intelligence capabilities, support green network evolution, achieve global zero carbon, energy conservation and emission reduction, enhance network capabilities, support new business growth, enable sustainable development of the telecommunications industry, and empower thousands of businesses to achieve green development.

Operators from different regions around the world face many challenges on the path of sustainable development due to restrictions on policy regulation, business development, technological innovation, resource endowment, etc., such as low energy efficiency in data centers, limited development of new businesses, unstable power supply, etc. Traditional network construction and operation models can no longer meet the development needs of low-carbon, efficient, intelligent, and secure.
This project is based on the green network evolution and digital integration platform, bridging data breakpoints in communication equipment, energy support, sensors, and vertical industry management systems. It introduces clean energy such as solar energy, and ensures the practical implementation of "clean energy", "energy conservation", and "empowerment" capabilities through network architecture evolution, retirement of old equipment, and computer room renovation.
