ABU DHABI, UAE - The 2024 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition, a grand event in the global energy industry, recently concluded at the National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi. It witnessed the remarkable presence of over 300 Chinese enterprises, making a significant impact on the exhibition and highlighting China's progress in the energy sector.

This year's exhibition, which attracted more than 2,200 exhibitors from over 160 countries and regions, focused on artificial intelligence and sustainable energy transition. It served as a platform for the global energy community to explore the future of the industry. Among the participants, the Chinese contingent stood out with their advanced technologies and innovative solutions.

In Hall 11, CNOOC's "Deep Sea No.1" model was a center of attention. This remarkable semi-submersible production storage facility, independently developed by China with a capacity of 100,000 tons, showcases China's major breakthroughs in deepwater oilfield development and marine engineering equipment manufacturing. It is a testament to China's growing capabilities in the offshore oil and gas sector.

In Hall 15, a joint booth by CNOOC Services Co., Ltd., CNOOC Development Co., Ltd., and CNOOC Engineering presented products like "Xuanji," "Hurricane No.1," and "Sea Dragon," demonstrating the comprehensive strength of China's oil and gas industry chain.

China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) exhibited a carbon capture utilization storage model. This initiative captures CO2 from Qilu Petrochemical’s coal-to-gas industrial emissions and transports it to Shengli Oilfield for enhanced oil recovery, achieving an annual reduction of CO2 emissions by one million tons. It is a significant step towards decarbonization in the energy industry.

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) highlighted its “10 Thousand Meter Deep Well” drilling technology, a remarkable achievement in the field of oil engineering. This feat was accomplished earlier this year at the Tarim Oilfield, demonstrating China's advanced drilling capabilities.

Zhenhua Oil presented an infrared gas monitoring system used in Abu Dhabi's onshore fields and a digital twin visualization platform implemented in Iraq’s East Baghdad Oilfield, showing China's technological innovation in the field of oil and gas monitoring and management.

Mohammed Salami, a Senior Engineer at ADNOC Onshore Company, remarked that he had engaging discussions with many Chinese firms during the exhibition. He was impressed by the outstanding products and technologies presented by the Chinese companies, which are making important contributions to the regional energy development.

The participation of Chinese enterprises in this exhibition not only showcases their technological achievements but also reflects the strengthening cooperation between China and the Arab states in the energy field. During the expo period, several significant contracts and agreements were reached. Dongfang Geophysical Exploration Co., Ltd signed a $490 million contract with ADNOC for high-density exploration projects, while Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Technology Equipment Co., Ltd reached an agreement with Khalifa Economic Zone Group to establish advanced hydrogen manufacturing facilities in Abu Dhabi.

Ralph Samaha from Masoud Energy Company emphasized the beneficial collaborations between the UAE and China in energy security and renewable energy development. He believes that such cooperation has vast prospects and is in line with the shared goals of the international community for sustainable progress.

As the energy industry continues to evolve towards a more sustainable future, the presence of Chinese enterprises at the 2024 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition has played a crucial role in promoting energy transition and sustainable development, opening up new opportunities for global energy cooperation.
