China Photovoltaic Industry Association has called for measures to crack down on sales at "below-cost"prices curb in order to stop"vicious competition"within the industry. The association has also encouraged mergering and acquisition as well as mechanisms to ease market exit for failing companies.
The association made the calls at a recent meeting in Beijing. "The solar PV industry went through rapid expansion first and now it is only a necessary direction for some companies to lose out," the association said. The current shift is critical for the whole industry to achieve "high-quality" development, which was the theme of the meeting.
Market measures are more appropriate to address current challenges faced by the industry, but"government interference" is necessary, the association said.
