China's valve industry needs to improve the innovation ability

27 Mar.,2025

Although China’s valve industry has grown rapidly in recent years, the overall level of the industry remains low, with limited technological advancement. Many high-parameter, critical valves still rely on imports. Experts estimate that China’s valve technology lags 10 to 20 years behind that of advanced countries. Recently

In the past year or so, there have been more activities organized by the Valve Branch, and there have been increasing opportunities for meeting and exchanging ideas among various council and member units. My overall feeling is that more and more industries are considering problems from the perspective of the entire industry, and the level of thinking about problems is getting higher and higher. We can clearly feel that the confidence, sense of responsibility, and mission of the industry have increased. This is very important for establishing the correct thinking and development direction of the industry, and we will continue to organize similar activities in the future to give the industry the opportunity to go global and bring back advanced concepts and ideas to share with the industry.

While going global, we also need to further strengthen our own construction. This requires starting from standards, testing, and other aspects. Improving industry standardization, enriching testing methods and levels, with the aim of enhancing product quality. At present, in the valve industry, industries such as gas appliances and range hoods have carried out the construction of national level testing centers. With the improvement of testing levels, it will play a positive role in understanding the industry situation and achieving quantitative quality management in the industry. By establishing our own testing center or conducting regular or irregular quality inspections with other functional departments, we aim to eliminate low-quality products from the market and make branded products mainstream in the market. In this regard, there is still much work to be done in the valve industry in the future. As long as enterprises can adhere to the attitude of contributing to the development of the industry and the idea of taking consumer interests as the starting point, the valve industry will surely achieve better development.

China's valve industry needs to improve the innovation ability

Valves are widely used in various fields of national economy and people's livelihood. Due to the need to adapt to different working conditions, there are a wide variety and a huge quantity of them. China's valve manufacturing industry is very large, with thousands of valve manufacturers spread across the country. Currently, China has become one of the countries with the largest valve production and market demand in the world. However, the valve industry in our country is mostly composed of small and medium-sized enterprises, with varying levels of quality. Less than 10 of them have an annual output value exceeding 100 million yuan. Even compared with other domestic machinery industries, there is still a significant gap in equipment and technological level. There are few units that truly have the ability to independently research and develop high-end products. Therefore, in major engineering projects such as large-scale petrochemical, nuclear power, and oil and gas pipelines, the supporting valves are mainly imported.

There are a wide variety of valve categories, with varying market demands and varying production scales and technological levels of valve manufacturers. However, valve products share many similarities in overall development trends and technological approaches. If valve enterprises can combine their own conditions and determine their development goals for new products through scientific and technological approaches, they will avoid detours and promote the sustainable and healthy development of China's valve industry.
