2024 Pumpkin Seed Planting Area Expected to Reach 2.47 Million Mu, a 20% Increase from 2023

We are pleased to announce that the projected planting area for pumpkin seeds in 2024 is 2.47 million mu, marking a significant 20% increase compared to 2023. The distribution of varieties is as follows: Snow White pumpkin seeds account for 12%, Lady Nail for 12%, GWS for 2%, and Shine Skin pumpkin seeds for 74%.

The main cultivation areas are Xinjiang, Gansu, and Inner Mongolia, with Xinjiang covering 1.7 million mu, Gansu 340,000 mu, and Inner Mongolia 430,000 mu. The estimated total pumpkin seed production in 2024 is projected to reach 400,000 tons. This includes 294,000 tons of Shine Skin, 52,000 tons of Lady Nail, 46,000 tons of Snow White, and 8,000 tons of GWS.

Several factors contribute to the anticipated increase in production:

1. Favorable Weather Conditions: Meteorological forecasts for 2024 indicate favorable conditions for pumpkin seed cultivation, including optimal rainfall and temperature.
2. High-Yield, Disease-Resistant Varieties: The promotion and adoption of these advanced varieties are expected to enhance production.
3. Improved Cultivation Techniques: Overall advancements in farming practices are contributing to higher efficiency and yield.
4. Strategic Planting Locations: Planting areas are being shifted to regions with suitable temperatures, fertile soil, ample water supply, and stable yields.
5. Scale, Centralization, and Mechanization: The increase in scale, centralization, and mechanization of planting operations is enhancing productivity and efficiency.
