Desktop computer monitors are available in sizes ranging from 13 to 43 inches. Some users may utilize their TV as a monitor, with screen sizes of 55 inches or more. Laptop screens generally range from 11.6 to 17 inches. While technology plays a role, generally, the larger the monitor size, the higher the cost. Laptops are a bit different as features and portability weigh more heavily as far as price is concerned. For desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets, the monitor or screen is measured from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner, in inches.
Note
This page is for finding the physical size of a monitor or screen and not the screen resolution. To determine what resolution your monitor is currently set to, see: How to view or change the screen resolution of a monitor.
To determine the size of your desktop monitor, laptop screen, smartphone screen, or tablet screen, click a link below.
The size of a desktop computer monitor is determined by physically measuring the screen. Using a measuring tape, start at the top-left corner and pull it diagonally to the bottom-right corner. Be sure to only measure the screen; do not include the bezel (the plastic edge) around the screen.
The model number of the monitor includes the size of the monitor in it. For example, an Acer 20-inch screen could have a model number of S201HL. The "20" after the "S" is the size of the monitor. In general, a model number starts with one or two letters, followed by numbers. The first two numbers after the letters usually represent the size of the monitor. If you're still unsure, a quick online search of the model number can provide the exact size.
The size of a laptop computer monitor is determined by physically measuring the screen. Using a measuring tape, start at the top-left corner and pull it diagonally to the bottom-right corner. Be sure to only measure the screen; do not include the bezel (the plastic edge) around the screen.
The specifications for a laptop include the size of the laptop screen. Check the laptop's specifications for a section labeled "Screen," "Display," or similar. The screen size is listed in that section, in inches. If you're still unsure, a quick online search of the laptop's model number provides you the exact size.
The size of a smartphone and tablet screen is determined by physically measuring the screen. Using a measuring tape, start at the top-left corner and measure diagonally down to the bottom-right corner. Only measure the screen; do not include the bezel (the plastic, metal, or glass edge), if any, around the screen.
The specifications for a smartphone and tablet include the size of the screen. Check the specifications for a section labeled "Screen," "Display," or similar. The screen size is listed in that section, in inches. If you're still unsure, a quick online search of the smartphone or tablet model number provides you the exact size.

There are numerous scenarios when the user may question, “how to find out your laptop screen size without measuring,” ranging from purchasing a new laptop bag to identifying the right resolution of your screen.
It’s a good idea to know the size of your laptop screen if you need to contact technical support or compare your gadget to another.
You inquired about the screen size when you needed to repair or replace your laptop screen or purchase a laptop cover.
You might not have the dimensions memorized, nor do you have a ruler or measuring device.
There are several sorts of measurements for computer screens. As a result, the size is determined by the requirements. Confirm the precise measurements you want in terms of body size, pixels per square inch.
To physically measure the actual screen, it is important to keep in mind that you will not be able to measure the entire screen due to the plastic frame, you need to measure the screen from the frame to the frame.
However, if you require measurement for usage, this may not necessarily be applicable. For example, a laptop cover or bag, or screen protectors that may be used on the outside of your laptop screen.
Also, unless otherwise specified, the precise measurements of your laptop screen must be measured from one end to the other.
Other resources for deciding the size of your laptop screen will be discussed at this time.
Every laptop comes with a unique model number. You may use the model number to find more about the laptop’s features, such as the screen size.
The Acer laptop with model number S291HL, for example, features a 20-inch screen. Figure “20,” which came after “S,” will tell you the screen’s size right away.
Model numbers for laptops usually begin with one or two letters before the number one. After the first few letters, the quantity generally reflects the display’s size.
Checking the characteristics of your laptop model is a simple method to find out without having to measure your screen size.
These characteristics may be found on the case you bought, in the user manual, or by looking under the laptop’s bottom cover. Check to see if they’re still available. Specifications Please include the screen size or at the very least the model number.
If you can’t access the laptop’s packaging or server-derived features, a fast search for model information in your computer’s settings should suffice.
The screen size is generally located under Laptop Features, in the Display Settings folder. If not, try the Advanced Display Settings tab. Be cautious to modify them if you don’t understand what they mean.
In certain situations, the search may be based on model characteristics rather than screen size. Use this model number to look up the size of your screen on the internet.
If this is typical, the information may not be fully correct. There will be a webpage dedicated to the many you make, and you may inquire about the measurements with their customer support.
The majority of PC applications provide information about your laptop. Screen size is sometimes provided together with other display characteristics.
Another quick alternative is to look up the display on the internet. Infoblip features a highly user-friendly display size detector.
It displays a credit card that must be adjusted till it is the correct size. Once it’s up and running, it estimates the size of your laptop’s display.
To do so, you’ll need to know your laptop’s name or model number. The model number may be found on one of the hatches on the bottom panel.
Once you’ve discovered this information, type it into Google, the manufacturer’s website, or the store where you bought the laptop.
Then you may select the best-matching results by clicking on them. The laptop’s display specs and other relevant hardware information will be provided as a result of the search.
You measure with a tape measure, open your laptop’s handbook, and make sure it’s the right size find the screen specifications. The size of the laptop screen is specified in the handbook.
Rotate the laptop’s back and look for labels featuring laptop models as well as other excellent laptop characteristics. It also includes the display’s size.
A number in the upper right corner of certain laptops also indicates the screen size. The H243HX, for example, denotes a screen size of 24 inches.
In addition to the screen’s size, there are a few more factors to consider.
The number of pixels in a display area is referred to as screen resolution. The majority of laptops have a 1920 x 1080 resolution, while the less expensive models have a 1024 x 720 screen.
Most manufacturers reduced the word to FHD (Full High Definition), 1440, 4K, and so on to make it more comprehensible and natural.
The basic rule with screen resolution is that the greater the price, the quicker the display. To fully appreciate the lively, brilliant display with greater details, you’ll need a laptop with a high top screen resolution.
A full 4K resolution is available on some laptops. These computers, however, come at a premium price. Even if the visuals are strong, a 1080p screen resolution will be adequate for most laptop work.
Another thing to consider is the aspect ratio of the display. Bright colors, on the other hand, have a difference in light when compared to the darkest hue.
Color representation is generally more accurate on displays with greater contrast ratios.
In the eyes of the world’s customers, brightness is arguably one of the most important features. We want our laptops to have bright displays that can display the display correctly even in strong light, just as our smartphones and mobile gadgets.
A nit is a measurement unit for screen brightness. A laptop with a high night rating often has a bright display. Most laptops nowadays have brightness levels of 200 to 300 nits.
It is significantly better than the average rating if the PC has greater than 300 nits. When it comes to brilliant screens, Macs are often the best. Screens with a brightness of up to 540 nits are included in their current version.
Another criterion for screen quality is how well it can display a black background. This feature resembles the contrasting ratio in several ways.
It is primarily concerned, though, with determining how the display may exhibit black. It is quantified by a number. The lower the number, the better. The better the black surface representation, the more black may be seen on the pitch on the screen.
White levels are also being monitored. A greater number, on the other hand, indicates a more efficient depiction of white. On the RGB scale, the value 255 represents the highest level. The display can now display a more realistic white hue in this setting.
The SRGB Graph, HDR, and other factors must be considered. We will only stress the necessity of understanding the screen update speeds.
The refresh rate refers to the frequency with which the image on the display changes. The average update speeds for laptops, measured in Hz, are 60 Hz and 144 Hz, respectively. For game players, this is critical.
Better playability and fewer crashes are the results of a faster refresh rate. When the video card is functioning at its optimum, especially for graphics-related games and chores, you won’t have to worry about continuous pauses and delays with it.
It just takes a few minutes to measure a laptop’s screen.
Now that you know how to determine the screen size of a laptop without measuring it, we strongly advise you to write it down so you don’t have to measure it again.
Make sure the screen resolution is at least 1920 x 1080 if you don’t do anything else.
Consider if you want to touch it, and then the color’s quality and brightness. If you’re a dedicated player, you’ll just consider refresh rates and reaction times.
