A friendly delegation from Jiangsu Province embarked on a visit to Ethiopia with the aim of implementing crucial agreements reached between the leaders of the two nations and furthering cooperation. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy held a meeting with the team led by Jiangsu Governor Xu Kunlin. Amidst this visit, GCL Group, representing Jiangsu's energy sector, participated in the Jiangsu-Africa (Ethiopia) Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum.

In recent years, under the aegis of the China-Ethiopia all-weather strategic partnership, Jiangsu has been actively involved in a wide range of exchanges with Ethiopia. The Ethiopia-GCL natural gas project stands as a significant initiative within the Belt and Road framework. Its objective is to enable Ethiopia to achieve energy self-sufficiency and foster the development of its gas chemical industry. Local officials pointed out that GCL has made substantial investments in this project, which enjoys robust support from the Ethiopian government. The aspiration is for its early completion to drive economic growth and enhance living standards. Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai emphasized that Ethiopia is one of Africa's major economies, endowed with rich resources and possessing vast potential for expansion. As one of the most developed provinces in China, Jiangsu places great value on cooperation with Africa and will continue to back the implementation of relevant projects.

During the forum, representatives from GCL's oil and gas project provided updates on the construction progress. They underlined the need for accelerated development while also laying stress on local talent cultivation and social contributions, all with the intention of enhancing the high-quality progress of the Belt and Road Initiative.
